Everyone may have raved about Bond (ok, to be fair, we did too) but it was another British creation that deserved way more accolade (and audiences) than it got. Eye-poppingly violent, stunning to look at and with more story than it may have looked like from the trailer, it's hard to understand why Dredd didn't do better, as it ticked all the right boxes and more. Perhaps it was the memory of the Stallone train wreck, or maybe it is just that most people simply don't get the character of Dredd, who is, after all, a crypto-facist anti-hero who never takes his helmet off. Whatever the reason, the fact that so few people went to Dredd was a major disappointment this year, as it really was as good as your friend who saw it told you.
