With The Lego Movie set to land in the US this weekend, with a UK release a week later, Warner Bros. are confident in the wake of the spectacular levels of hype that they have a massive hit on their hands. So much so, that news has broke today of a planned sequel.
The Wrap reports that two unnamed individuals have leaked the studio’s plans for a follow-up, with Jared Stern (The Internship, Mr. Popper’s Penguins) set to pen a script with Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely).
Industry experts expect The Lego Movie to smash $40 million in the US this weekend, so thoughts towards a quick turnaround on a sequel are no surprise.
With no further information available at this very early stage, any predictions towards a release date are purely speculative, but expect Warner Bros. to attempt to get another Lego big-screen outing within three years.
